Review a reorder option

Customer App may show a reorder option on an eligible past-order card or an eligible Favorite Order. The option is a request to build a new cart from historical order information. It is not a promise to reproduce the original order.

Review before replacing a cart

A reorder request can conflict with an existing cart for the same business. A clear confirmation must explain which current cart contents would be removed before any replacement begins. Canceling that decision should leave the current cart unchanged.

Where the option can appear

Entry surfaceWhat the option meansImportant limit
Eligible past-order cardAsk the app to reconstruct one previous order, or a grouped order represented by that cardEligibility can depend on order state, source cart, current configuration, and whether the control is enabled.
Eligible Favorite OrderAsk from a saved past-order relationshipBeing a favorite does not prove ownership, availability, or reconstruction success.
Order or grouped-order detailsReview historical informationThe current pinned detail surfaces do not establish a reliable reorder control, so this guide does not promise one there.

The option can be absent even when a previous order remains visible.

Existing-cart decision boundary

The app can detect current cart contents for a business represented by the previous order. If replacement is offered, the safe boundary is:

  • before confirmation, no current item is removed and no new cart is created;
  • the confirmation names the destructive consequence and provides an equally clear cancel action;
  • accepting replacement does not prove that clearing or reconstruction completed; and
  • the app must not continue to a cart or checkout until the entire requested reconstruction has an authoritative result.

The pinned implementation does not establish atomic replacement or recovery of the old cart across every entry and grouped outcome.

Previous order versus new cart

Previous-order informationRequired new-cart treatment
Business and item referencesResolve against the current authorized business and catalog.
Product choices, options, and quantityRevalidate current availability, rules, limits, and compatibility. Unavailable choices can be excluded or require review.
Historical price, discounts, fees, taxes, tip, and totalRecalculate from current cart rules. Never assume the same amount or total.
Delivery or pickup type, address, and requested timeSelect and validate for the new cart; historical values are not current authority.
Payment and provider stateStart from the new cart's supported pre-payment state; do not reuse a previous payment result.
Student, place, vehicle, group, agent, or conversation contextClear or re-authorize it for the new customer journey; do not silently carry it forward.
Service or professional reservationDo not recreate it through reorder. Capacity, professional, date, and time require a fresh service-reservation journey.

Availability, menu contents, product options, price, discounts, fees, taxes, tip, timing, and totals can differ from the source order.

Single and grouped reconstruction

A single-order request can target one new cart. A grouped-order card can represent more than one business and require more than one new cart. Grouped reconstruction is complete only when every expected member has a current, authorized result and the group matches that exact result.

If one member fails, arrives late, or cannot be reconciled, treat the entire group outcome as partial or unknown. Do not infer success from one visible cart, one navigation change, or one successful member.

Possible outcomes

Observable outcomeSafe interpretation
Reorder option is absentThe current entry is not offering reconstruction; no reason or eligibility guarantee is implied.
Confirmation is canceledThe request ends before replacement; the current cart should remain unchanged.
A complete new cart is shownReview every item, option, quantity, service choice, price, fee, tax, discount, tip, and total before checkout.
Items are missing or require adjustmentThe current catalog did not reproduce the source order exactly; review the new cart as a different order.
An error appears before a final cartReconstruction is not confirmed. Do not infer that an earlier cart was restored or unchanged.
The response is lost or a grouped result is partialThe result is unknown. Do not submit the reorder request again until current cart state is authoritatively reconciled.

Troubleshooting safely

The reorder option is not shown

Use the currently available business and menu journey. Do not use a private order reference or repeated refresh to force eligibility.

The app asks to remove current cart items

Stop and review the current cart first. Cancel if any current item must be preserved or if the affected business is unclear.

The new cart differs from the previous order

Treat the new cart as current authority. Do not assume a missing item, changed option, or different total is a display-only difference.

Only part of a grouped order appears

Treat the group as partial or unknown. Do not continue to checkout or repeat the request to fill missing members.

The app changed screens without a final result

Navigation is not settlement. Return through trusted in-app navigation and review the current cart state without repeating a destructive action.

The previous order included a service reservation

Start from the current service-reservation journey. A reorder request does not reserve current capacity, a professional, a date, or a time.

Accessibility

The reorder control and destructive confirmation need clear names, consequences, busy and disabled states, a safe cancel action, predictable focus, and a text announcement of complete, partial, failed, or unknown outcomes. Large text must not hide the affected-cart explanation or either decision.

This is the required verification posture, not a claim that every current reorder surface already meets it.

When to recertify

Repeat isolated review after changes to past or Favorite Order eligibility; single/group reconstruction; current-cart detection or clearing; current catalog validation; product/options/quantity mapping; prices or totals; delivery, pickup, service, reservation, student, place, vehicle, group, agent, or conversation context; navigation/checkout handoff; retry, idempotency, rollback, unknown outcomes, accessibility, or App/components/API authority pins.
