Brands

Create brands and associate them with businesses.

This narrated walkthrough demonstrates the same workflow documented in the written, step-by-step guide directly below.

Mastering brand management: a step-by-step guide

In any multi-location or franchise-based business, maintaining brand consistency while managing individual business units is crucial. The Brands module is designed to act as a central hub where you can organize your franchises, customize their identity, and link them to specific business locations.

This guide explains how to create a brand, add its details, and associate businesses with it.

Phase 1: Navigating the brands dashboard

When you first enter the Brands section from the sidebar, you are greeted with a high-level overview of all your existing brand franchises.

  1. Search & Filter: Use the search bar at the top to quickly find a specific brand by name.
  2. Brand Cards: Each brand is represented by a card showing its logo, name, and internal identifier.
  3. Quick Actions: From the main dashboard, you can click "View Details" to edit a brand or "Delete" to remove it entirely.

Phase 2: Creating a new brand

Adding a new franchise to your portfolio is a straightforward process:

  1. Click the blue "+ Create Brand" button in the top right corner.
  2. Upload a Logo: Drag and drop or select an image (PNG, JPG, JPEG, or WEBP).
  3. Basic Information: * Name: The public-facing name of the brand.
  • Slug: A URL-friendly version of the name (e.g., pizza-pros).
  • Internal Name: An identifier used only for your internal records.
  1. Timezone: Select the primary timezone for the brand’s operations.
  2. Click "Create Brand" to save.

Phase 3: Configuring brand details & businesses

Once a brand is created, you can dive deeper into its configuration by clicking "View Details".

The "General" Tab

Here, you can toggle the brand's Status (Active/Inactive) and update contact information such as Cellphones and Phone numbers. This ensures that the franchise remains reachable and its operational status is clear.

The "Businesses" Tab

This is where the magic happens. A "Brand" is the umbrella, and "Businesses" are the individual locations under that umbrella.

  1. Switch to the Businesses tab.
  2. Search for specific locations using the search bar.
  3. Assigning Locations: Simply check the box next to a business (e.g., "Pizza Place") to link it to the brand. You will see a green confirmation toast: "Business assigned to franchise."
  4. Bulk Selection: You can use "Select All," "Select All (Page)," or "Select None" to manage large numbers of locations quickly.

Tips & tricks for efficiency

  • Consistent Slugs: When creating a brand, keep your slugs short and descriptive. This helps with cleaner URLs if you ever integrate this data into a customer-facing web portal.
  • Use Internal Notes: In the "General" settings, use the Internal Notes field to record specific franchise agreements, point-of-contact names, or special operational requirements.
  • Logo Optimization: While the system accepts various formats, use a high-resolution PNG with a transparent background for the most professional look across the platform.

Best practices

  • Audit Regularly: Periodically review the Businesses tab within each brand and confirm the listed location assignments.
  • Keep Statuses Accurate: If a franchise is undergoing renovation or is temporarily closed, toggle the Status to inactive rather than deleting the brand. This preserves your data and history.
  • Naming Conventions: Use a standard naming convention for your "Internal Names" (e.g., BRAND_ID_REGION) to make searching and reporting easier as your business grows.

Conclusion

Use the Brands area to group related businesses and maintain the name, slug, logo, and contact information shown for each brand.
