Pay your drivers and settle cash

Decide how drivers earn before the first shift, and settle their pay and the cash they collected on a fixed rhythm.

Common pay models

ModelHow it works
Per deliveryA fixed amount for each completed delivery, sometimes more for longer zones.
Share of the delivery feeThe driver keeps a part of the fee the customer paid; you keep the rest.
Hourly or per shiftPaid for availability, common for in-house fleets.
TipsCustomer tips go to the driver in every model. Say so clearly.

Driver invoices

In the invoice manager, create a driver invoice for a date range. Set a percentage fee, a fixed fee per order, the share of the delivery price and tips, tax, and any miscellaneous amount, and filter by payment method. Save and download it as the statement for that period.

Example: A fixed retention per delivery

A marketplace owner charges customers a delivery fee and keeps a fixed part of each one for the platform, for example to cover insurance. In the driver invoice he enters that amount as a fixed fee per order. The invoice shows the driver's total and the amount retained, which his accountant uses to pay each driver every fifteen days.

Cash collected by drivers

When customers pay cash, the driver holds money that belongs to the merchant and to you. Settle it at the end of each shift or period:

  1. Filter orders by the driver's delivery group and by the cash payment method.
  2. Compare the cash total with what the driver hands over.
  3. Record it in the driver's invoice for the period.
Tip

If cash handling becomes a burden, limit cash in some delivery groups (Chapter 27) or create a cash fee so card becomes the easy choice.
