Drivers and delivery groups
Drivers are organized in delivery groups. A group links drivers to the stores they serve and the payment methods they can handle. No group, no deliveries.
Where: Delivery › Drivers and Delivery › Delivery groups
1. Create your drivers
- Go to Delivery › Drivers and add a new driver.
- Enter name, email, phone, and password. The email cannot already belong to a customer or admin account.
- Enable the driver.
- Send them the Driver App link with your project name and their login.
2. Create a delivery group
- Go to Delivery › Delivery groups › Add driver group.
- Name it and choose the type: in-house drivers, or a delivery company.
- Set the priority. When several groups serve a store, higher-priority groups are tried first.
- Select the businesses this group delivers for.
- Select the drivers.
- Choose payment methods. For example, a group that should not carry cash.
- Save. Turn on advanced logistics later (Chapter 28).
Bikes serves every restaurant within 5 km and carries all payment methods. Cars serves FreshCorner Market and the wholesale store, because grocery orders are too big for a bike. A merchant who sells bulk orders gets its own store and its own car group, so large orders never go to a bike.
3. Drivers switch themselves on
In the Driver App, each driver opens their profile and turns on availability to receive orders. They should do it when the shift starts and turn it off when it ends. Keep the app open during the shift for the most reliable alerts. On first launch, drivers must allow location access.
- The driver is enabled in the dashboard
- The driver is in a delivery group
- That group includes the order's store
- That group accepts the order's payment method
- The driver turned availability on in the app profile
- Location access is allowed on the phone, with internet
- The merchant accepted the order (it is not still pending)
In onboarding calls, a missing store in the group or availability left off explain nearly every case.
Every time you add a new store or a new driver, remember to add it to the right group too.
